The Farmer and the Snake: Europe’s Stupidity and the Viper It Raised With Its Own Hands

Europe is not the farmer. The farmer, at least, knew he was saving a snake. Europe did not even know what it was warming in its chest — and the snake it was warming was precisely the ghost that Europe’s own historical debt had always pointed at.

The Judgment of History: The Necessity of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Special Supplement

Hiroshima, 8:15 AM, August 6, 1945. The first combat-deployed atomic bomb in human history — “Little Boy” — detonated at 600 meters altitude. A mushroom cloud rose into the sky. Approximately 80,000 people died that day; the entire city was turned to ash. Three days later, Nagasaki was struck by the second bomb, “Fat Man,” killing another approximately 40,000.

The Iron Hooves of Expansion: Japanese Aggression and Crimes Before WWII

On the night of September 18, 1931, an explosion near Liutiaohu in the northern suburbs of Shenyang shattered the brief peace of East Asia and inaugurated the darkest chapter of Japanese militarist expansion. From Manchuria to North China, from East China to Southeast Asia, the iron hooves of Japanese imperialism trampled across half of Asia over fifteen years, leaving wounds that remain unhealed to this day.
